Yes, you can access Helium Music Streamer from any computer, but you have to make sure that you have opened the appropriate ports in your routers firewall and any firewall software.
If you plan on using Helium Music Streamer over the Internet it is recomended that you have installed all security updates and service packs from Windows update, have an updated Anti-virus software, some kind of Anti-spyware software and a firewall (preferable both a router firewall and a software firewall).
Please follow the instructions below in order to enable access to the Helium Music Streamer over the Internet:
- On the computer where Helium Music Streamer has been installed, click Start > (All) Programs > Helium Music Streamer > Launch Helium Music Streamer to launch the Helium Music Streamer in your default web browser.
- The address in the address bar should look something like this:
http://localhost:7790
where the port number (marked in bold above) may differ. Make a note of the port number being used on your system. - Open the port above in your Windows Firewall (if the Windows Firewall is enabled on your system). It is beyond the scope of this guide to explain this in detail since there are many different manufacturers and models on the market. A good start is to browse the PortForward.com site to see if your router is being listed.
- Allow the Ultidev Cassini Web Server access to the internet in your anti-virus software. Please check your anti-virus software manual on how to do this - if you have additional anti-virus software installed.
You can verify if your firewall has been correctly configured by going into the Helium Music Streamer Settings under the Status tab. Click the Check port button to check whether everything is correctly configured.
